Untuk menganut vegetarianisme di restoran tipikal di Havana adalah yang perlu dipenuhi dalam kebanyakan kes dengan 'dadar?'Dan apa yang anda akan dapat adalah yang sama seperti orang lain tetapi dengan dadar bukan daging, jadi biasanya ini akan menjadi nipis dadar kecil dimasak dengan baik disertai dengan beras dan kacang. Selepas itu aku mula mengidamkan brokoli.
Dalam Vedado, Ifrit vegetarian pizza lazat dalam formica gaya kafe dibentangkan Trattoria Maraka pada Calle 0 antara Calles 23 dan 25, literal sekitar blok dari Habana Percuma Hotel dan teksi juga lazat yang jauhnya di bandar lama, disampaikan kepada medan yang elegan di Restaurante La Dominica. Saya membaca kelakar 'Man kami di Havana' Graham Greene ini semasa saya berada di sana dan gembira melawat jalan-jalan di bandar lama yang dia menyebut selalu.
Tetapi makan malam adalah tidak bermaksud satu-satunya yang menyeronokkan yang boleh didapati pada waktu malam. Menjelang hari Havana adalah bising dan panas dan tercemar tetapi dinding sekitar kolam renang di Habana Percuma, bekas Hilton Havana sebelum revolusi adalah benteng yang mencukupi terhadap bunyi bising dari kereta lama. Satu boleh berbaring di bawah kanopi colladas minum pina atau mojitos terlalu manis dan mencari di bilik-bilik yang diduduki oleh Fidel, Et al kira-kira 1959. Bilik-bilik yang ada yang besar dan selesa dan moden, mampu pemandangan seluruh bandar dan bermandikan cahaya matahari melalui lantai ke siling. Tetapi pada waktu malam yang panas dan angin dari laut yang lazat. Sekitar Las Ramblas di pusat Havana berduyun-duyun laluan pejalan kaki dengan penduduk tempatan berpakaian terang dan muzik secara langsung berasal dari setiap bar. Sebaliknya bandar lama dengan bangunan-bangunan megah adalah elegan dan tenang dan serius dan lebih pelancongan.
Orang-orang di Havana sangat meriah, berjalan semata-mata tidak akan meninggalkan anda tanpa perbualan. Sesetengah orang akan bertanya banyak soalan dan kemudian meminta wang, yang lain hanya akan bertanya soalan banyak, terpesona dengan dunia luar hampir mustahil di luar bidang.

I have been vegetarian for many years and some countries are more difficult than others. Cuba was a challenge but then so are parts of France! Whereabouts in India are you from? Some time ago I stayed at the Sivananda ashram in Kerala (amongst others) and it was enlightening..

The two Italian restaurants I mention are really nice, the one in Vedado is more like a cafe and you sit inside, the one in the old town is more elegant and there are tables outside on a quiet street. I went for a day trip to Las Terrazzas, a eco village and they had a wonderful looking vegetarian restaurant there but if you go on the (government run)tour from Havana they stop at a different restaurant for lunch at its not close to this one (they go there at the end) so it will take some planning. We missed out on this one because we thought we could just pop in there…its called El Romero and looks really good

Thank you for your suggestions 😀 I’ve done a fair bit of online searching and have found a good selection for the 4 days in Havana – will definitely be making a day trip to Las Terrazas and also the botanical gardens – apparently a lovely veggie place there too.

I also made a list of vegetarian places before I went but unfortunately the group I met in Havana were mostly carnivorous! I have read very mixed reviews about the restaurant in the botanical gardens but didnt get to go there. More on the agenda were places like Hemmingway’s haunt La Bodeguita del Medio, worth it for the atmosphere and the photos but not really for the food! Another one I read about but didnt get the chance to go to was Restaurant Vegetariano between calles C and D, the tip I read somewhere was to refuse table service…It was a shame the government tour didnt go past El Romero (the vegetarian restaurant) at Las Terrazzas until the end of the day. But forewarned is forearmed and I think its worth taking a detour. Thanks for reading my blog and have a fantastic time in Cuba.
